The Williards

Back to About Us

The WilliardsIn the early 90's the Willard's became involved in supporting Christian Radio at WWII and united with others to bring about the first March for Jesus in Harrisburg in 1993. Simultaneously, the Lord was setting us up for something! Later, in January of 1995, the Willard's become directors of March for Jesus PA; a ministry which continues to reach out in unity and service; built on a foundation of prayer. Over the years a relationships continued to develop with WWII, which ultimately lead to Ruth Willard coming on staff as an afternoon DJ on the newly named 720 AM the Rock in 1997. The years ahead would be filled with transition and Ross & Ruth Willard would continue to support the radio station in different capacities.

The Willard's do the afternoon drive time mix Monday through Wednesday, beginning at 4:30 PM and ending at 6 PM, the weekly broadcast of "Kidz Love Jesus Too", every Friday morning from 11 AM till Noon, and at times back up for others. Another addition is the "Celebrate Jesus" program, which airs during the rocks after hours on Tuesday evenings at 6 PM.

Ruth Willard was born and raised in Harrisburg, PA and a graduate from Susquehanna Township High School. Having a creative bent to her personality, Ruth has been a graphic artist, taken art classes, done ceramics, crafts, used her talents to make church banners, and much more. Involvement in music and band front throughout her school years helped prepare her for the March for Jesus ministry, as well as working at 720 AM the Rock.

Ross Willard born in Edgemont PA and a graduate of East Pennsboro High School and Harrisburg Area Community College worked 30 plus years in the mechanical fields and is now a professional volunteer who likes to teach and talk about bikes or the bible. If you have listened to the radio station, you will definitely know that Ross loves to roller skate and do the limbo with the kids at the monthly skating outreaches to music supplied by AM 720 the Rock.

Ross & Ruth Willard are married; have raised five children, four are married and they have nine grandchildren; soon to become ten. Their family life is full, as they continue to experience the joy of being grandparents.

Under the umbrella of March for Jesus PA, they find time to organize special prayer meetings, events, outreaches, run an emergency food bank, form a recycle bicycle ministry and coordinate a monthly skating outreach at the Olympic Skating Rink on the third Monday of each month www.marchforjesususa.com/skating/index.htm. Since the fall of 2006 they have also become the contact for March for Jesus USA. If you would like to find out more about there ministry go to http://www.marchforjesususa.com/.
